UNDERWATER Photography | FINE ART

For as long as I can remember to have been taking photographs - which probably dates back to 25 years ago - I have longed to explore and portray our relationships with WATER: how bodies float and move, how water wraps up our skin, and where the light falls and the shade takes space within the frame.

Even if I’ve made a few attempts in the past, I had to come to live on an island, swim every day, and gain enough confidence to be in the ocean, whilst filming or taking pictures. to finally make underwater photography one of my priorities.

I usually work in color - mainly on medium format film [6x4.5], and for the past 10 years, I have used an old Bronica Zenza produced since the mid-1970s.

I enjoy working with digital cameras too, but you will never see me taking a thousand photographs to get a job done. Call me old-fashioned, call me old school, but craftmanship is my number one priority when expressing myself through photography and so, even when I use digital cameras, I always set it up in Manual and enjoy the process as if I’d be using film.
